IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Fareed Hosni
Sabet
May 18, 1940 – December 5, 2022
Fareed Hosni Sabet peacefully passed away with his family surrounding him in his home on December 5th, 2022. He was born in Cairo, Egypt to his loving parents, Afryem and Georgette and lived to be 82 years old. Fareed is Survived by his wife, Layla, his three daughters Maggy, Karen, Sandra, and son in law David. He was the second oldest of 5 siblings, Hoda, Haney, Laila, Alex, and his last living sister, Mary. His two grandsons, Marcus and Matias looked up to him and loved their Gido.
Fareed was a man of courage, strength, and pride. His life's dream was to be the greatest architect and he was at his happiest in pursuing that dream. He found beauty in the art of building something from nothing and breathing life into it. You could often find Fareed driving around town just to admire the many styles, shapes and architectural concepts that would inspire him to run home and keep drawing. He was so proud of everything he built and his family was too. He was truly dedicated to his craft that was led by his ambition and vision.
Fareed was generous with his time and energy to support his family. He told stories of taking the reigns of responsibility and helping raise his siblings when his parents died at a young age. He honored them by keeping his brothers and sisters safe, fed, in school, and thriving. His life growing up was very different than most, and he loved sharing the stories of his life, like how he grew up chasing tigers out of his yard and fighting off snakes. There was never a dull moment in his adolescence. It's no surprise Fareed grew up to be a leader and a stoic man who embraced his responsibilities and fought for his family.
Fareed loved to travel. He would take his wife Layla, and three daughters, Maggy, Karen and Sandra all over the world. He felt it was important for us to see and experience different cultures which would expand our minds and understanding of the world at large. He wanted to show us how unique and beautiful every corner of the earth was and that is a value that we have carried into our own lives.
Fareed was a giving man too. Incredibly kind to his employees at his office. He stayed behind during the war to encourage and inspire his employees to keep working through a time wrought with peril and uncertainty. He promised to take good care of them and they knew they could trust him as Fareed was seen as a man of his word. This is a true testament to his character and commitment.
A few of his favorite things were watching the price is right and eating lots of chocolate cake.
He loved to tell stories even if they had no plot or ending because Fareed just loved to talk. To connect with the people around him. He enjoyed playing cards and the fine art of backgammon. Once you had the basics of the game down he wasted no time using tactics and strategies that would definitely result in you losing, but did force you to grow as a player and deepen your understanding of the game. He also loved to head out to Vegas for a weekend of gambling.
Fareed's life was filled with challenges he overcame with his wit and determination. He believed we were all capable of achieving these same feats. He was a true independent spirit who successfully forged his own path and provided a solid foundation for the loved ones around him to start building their own dreams from as well. We can best honor him in the same way. To support. To create. To aspire towards the dreams in our lives and find the gift that keeps on giving… building what we can with our own two hands.
