Frances Bruna Gernaey, born October 6, 1921 passed away September 5, 2014 at the age of 92. She is preceded by her husband Henry Jules Gernaey and daughter Monica Marie Gernaey. She is survived by a daughter Patricia, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Frances was born in Los Angeles to John and Julia Giovannoli. She had one brother Daniel. Her mother's family were California natives from Culver City dating back several generations. Her paternal grandfather was from Florence, Italy. She graduated from Franklin High School. She enjoyed playing baseball and volleyball. She grew up surrounded by family and friends. Dancing was a favorite pastime. She worked at Pacific Bell where she met her husband. They were married after a short courtship.

Frances and Henry moved to Eagle Rock to live close to her parents. Her love of cooking was passed down to her from her mother. She maintained numerous close and loyal friends since childhood. She never missed a high school social. She always accepted what came her way. She never gave up her will to live and fought until her last breath.

Her rosary will be held on October 2, 2014 at 10:30am followed by Mass at 11:00am at St. Edward the Confessor in Dana Point. Her interment will be held on October 3, 2014 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Los Angeles at 10:00am.
