Frances M Jones, born December 26, 1923, in Casper Wyoming, passed peacefully on July 14, 2020in her Laguna Woods home with her daughters and granddaughters by her side. Born to Marie and Bernard Dougherty, she had one younger sister, Jane Husome, who predeceased her.
She married her childhood sweetheart while he was on short leave from the Army. While her husband was fighting in Normandy Beach during WWII, she was called to build planes for Cesna in Wichita, Kansas, where she was raised. She was one of the many "Rosie the Riveters" doing their part in the war. She is survived by her daughters Kathleen Rattay andMargaret Moon; son in-law Douglas Moon; grandchildren Brigitte and Abigail; great grandchildren Ziv Kriz, Cassidy Kriz, Braxton Miller and his wife Briana Miller; and Meredeth Miller.
Up until the last days of her life, she was following her passion of collecting dolls,making dolls, designing patterns, and sewing doll clothes. Her doll collection kept her engaged and brought her much joy. During the earlier years, she enjoyed many road trips around the country, Canada, and Mexico with her husband and their grandchildren.
Holidays were always special times, and she used her decorating skills to bring the holiday spirit into her home. Family meals in a festive room brought joy to everyone. Frances will be laid to rest with her loving husband in Mount Hope Cemetery, KS. Her children and grandchildren will hold a graveside service later this year.
