IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Francis Jooyong
Hahn
February 28, 1937 – December 19, 2025
Francis JooYong Hahn, MD, 88, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Laguna Woods, California, passed away at home on December 19, 2025, at 1:37 a.m., surrounded by family.
Born in Cheonan, South Korea, Francis was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. A proud Yonsei class of '61 alum, he spent more than 44 years in radiology, retiring from the University of Nebraska Medical Center the Neuro Chief and Professor Emeritus. His early published work in neuroradiology, helped establish the foundational standards that made modern diagnostic imaging of the brain possible and remains among the 100 most frequently cited medical articles in American medicine.
His work in emergency angiography was so consistently rapid, precise, and effective that when the President visited Omaha, Dr. Hahn was selected to serve on the standby medical team in the event of an emergency requiring immediate intervention.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Hahn was known to family and friends as an avid golfer, runner, artist, dancer, aspiring sailor, and performer. He thrived on hard work, discipline, and study, and believed that all books were sacred. Above all, Francis Hahn was a storyteller, and those fortunate enough to hear one of his stories were no doubt entertained.
He loved animals and took great joy in making children laugh, often going out of his way to make them happy.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Juliana Jayoung Hahn; his children, Paul (Youngjin) Hahn, David (Hojin) Hahn, and Theresa (Eunjoo) Hahn; and many beloved grandchildren.
His love and guidance will remain with us always. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
