Obituary

Franklin Joseph Dillon, Sr. was born on February 12, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois and passed away on June 25, 2014 at the age of 81.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Donna, as well as their five children and their spouses; Frank Jr.; Bruce and wife Cindy; Michael and wife Karen; Karyn and husband Craig; and Lynda. They were also blessed with four grandchildren; Kristen, Kaela, Ryan and Stephanie.

Frank was born to Leroy and Florence Dillon and was the youngest of six children, all now deceased. He joined the Marine Corps in 1953 during the war in Korea. In 1954, he married Donna Jean Hufendick whom he met and fell in love with in High School. Following their wedding in December 1954, they moved to Laguna Beach while he was serving at the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station. Following his honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 1956, they returned to Chicago where he joined the Lincolnwood Illinois Police Department and spent five years as a police officer.

In 1961, Frank moved his family back to Laguna Beach, California, where he became a police officer of the Laguna Beach Police Department and later moved to Santa Ana, California, where they still reside today. In 1976, as a Lieutenant, he was sent by the Police Department to receive training at the FBI Academy in Virginia.

After twenty three years of law enforcement services it became necessary for Frank to take a medical retirement. Two years later he was offered a position at Chen-Tech Industries (CTI), a leading forger of jet engine components, where his wife was employed. He spent the next twenty years at CTI, beginning in quality control and later advancing to Vice President of Administration, before he retired in 2001.

Frank was definitely a family man. His love for his family was unquestionable. He cherished every gathering and looked forward to the next. He enjoyed reminiscing about his past and was a very detail oriented story teller.

He will be forever in our hearts as a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa and we will love him always.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to all the family and friends who kept Frank and his family in their constant prayers during their time of need and continue to do so in the wake of their loss.
