Obituary

Fredric William Maley was born January 30, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio. Fred passed away on September 27, 2015 at the age of 79 in Newport Beach, California.

Fred grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and Silver Spring, Maryland. He had an older sister Carol Ward (deceased). He graduated from Montgomery Blair High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Penn State University in 1958. In 1958 he received a commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marines. He served in Tustin, California; Kanehoe, Hawaii; Seoul, Korea; and Vietnam. He served for 8 years until 1966 with a ranking of Captain. He received his Master's Degree from Cal. State Long Beach in 1991.

Fred served as Borough Manager in Bellefont, Pennsylvania; City Manager in Bal Harbor, Florida; and Villa Park, California. Interim City Manager in South Gate, California and Twenty-Nine Palms, California. Over 35 years of Public Service.

Fred married Rona Burns (deceased) – children Deirdre Stegner (deceased), William (wife Sue) and Ian Maley. Grandchildren Sean Fleming, Liam and Cullen Maley.

Fred married Karen in 1990 and lived for 25 years in Irvine, California. Stepchildren Bobbi Scott (husband Mike) Terri Hartman (husband Jay). Grandchildren Amanda Ferry and Megan LeValley (husband Will). Graham and Paige Hartman. Fred's nephews and niece are Gene Lee, Gregg and Guy Ward. Lloyd, David and Sean Nitzen and Kelly Kuehnert.

• Fred was proud to have been in Public Service his entire career.

• Fred loved music, especially Neil Diamond and often belted out "September Morn".

• Fred and Karen shared a love of traveling and visited 15+ countries together.

• Fred was Mr. Fix-it in his community of Arborlake and Woodbridge Cove.

• Fred loved walking our dogs around North Lake saying hello to everyone he met.

• Fred loved being active in all the grandchildren's activities, especially if there was a "Roach Coach" involved.
