Gary Lee Burnett passed away on May 17, 2026 in San Juan Capistrano, California. 

Gary was born on December 31, 1939, in Dighton, Kansas, to Frona and Lester Burnett. He graduated from Dighton High School before leaving Kansas to attend an electronics school in Kentucky. He later moved to Texas, where he worked as an electronic technician.

Gary later moved to California and began his career with Hughes Aircraft Company alongside his brothers, Emmett and Lester. While working full time as an electrical engineer, he attended West Coast University, earning his B.S. degree in Engineering. Through dedication and hard work, he advanced to Senior Systems Engineer. He spent many years leading the HADR project, installing defense radar systems in countries around the world. Throughout his life he enjoyed the simple pleasures of playing his guitar and visiting the beach.

Gary is survived by his children, Jamie, Miles, Jennifer, and Benjamin; his longtime companion, Lois; his sister, Gloria; his five grandchildren, Erin, Evan, Liam, Kayla, and Leah; and his great-granddaughter, Claire.

Gary's ashes will be spread at sea in Dana Point, California, during a private ceremony.
