Gary Michael Wills was born on Sept 27, 1937 and died at the age of 78 on Sept 24, 2016, in Laguna Beach, his hometown.
He is survived by his grandchildren: Diego and Nayeli Wills; his sons Michael and Casey; his nieces and nephews John Corona, Christina Wilson, Susan Kennedy, and Ron Wills.
Gary was a UCLA graduate who worked for Ford, then as a salesman. After losing his voice, he was forced to change careers, and taught himself basic computer skills which he used for two decades at Boeing.
In 1967 Gary was married to Rosemary Boros. They moved to Bellevue Washington where they raised two children. They were later divorced, but he remained a devoted father, as well as a Little League and Pop Warner coach.
Gary was the son of Martin and Elizabeth Wills. He had one brother Bob and one sister Sallie. Between the years of 1989 to 1992, Gary lost his sister, his brother, his father, and then his mother, leaving him the last surviving member of his family.
At a Laguna High School reunion, Gary became reacquainted with Sara Danforth Aasland, an old sweet heart. Within a couple of years the two married and began an adventurous period of travel. In 2013 Sara passed away and he was never the same. Sara was credited with taking care of Gary in his old age, and also restoring faded relationships on Gary's side of the family.
Gary was a life-long reader, enthusiastic foodie, and outspoken liberal. He enjoyed the successes of others as much as his own, and was proudest of his family and friends.
All are welcome to attend his memorial on October 8, 2016 at McCormick Chapel, 1795 Laguna Canyon Rd, Laguna Beach, CA 92651.
