George Fortel, was born on May 5, 1944, in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, and passed away in Irvine, California, on January 29, 2026, at the age of 81. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and son whose love for his family stood at the core of his life.

George was born in Yugoslavia, and he spent the first years of his life in a displaced person's camp in Germany with his mother. His family was reunited after the war and took the first ship they could find to leave Europe. They ended up in Ventura, California, on a chicken farm. As an adult, George would never eat chicken.

For over 40 years, George shared a loving bond with his wife, Andy Sacks. George was known for always being by her side. His caring and nurturing demeanor extended not only to Andy but also to his beloved mother, Nadia Fortel, who he cared for diligently throughout her life.

George was a wonderful father to his daughters, Marina and Katherine, and always showed up for them. He took joy in being a grandfather to his grandchildren, Nickolai Fortel, William (Wills) Royeton, and Sofia Royeton.

George's legacy will be honored at a funeral service scheduled for February 10, 2026, at El Toro Memorial Park, located at 25751 Trabuco Road, Lake Forest, California, beginning at 1:30 PM. He leaves behind a family who will forever celebrate his life.

George Fortel's spirit and warmth will be missed by all who knew him. His loving devotion to his family and his gentle nature remain an eternal reminder of the impact one individual can have on the lives of many.
