On Friday, June 5 th 2020 , George Garrett loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather passed away at his home in Rancho Santa Margarita in orange county at the age of 85.
He was born August 10, 1935 in Oklahoma. He was raised in Brawley CA where he attended Brawley HS and was the graduating class of 1953. While there he was a member of the Southern California interscholastic federation championship football teams of 1951 & 1952.
He attended Fresno State college for a time before he joined the army and served two years overseas in Korea. He Married the love of his life, Phyllis, September 14, 1956. They went on to have 64 years together, two children, Guy and Laura. He was also blessed with two beautiful granddaughter's, Darci and Amanda . And was fortunate enough to also have two great grandsons, Garrett his name sake and Theo. He worked for the JCPenney company for 25 years before he found his calling, to have his own business, El Toro Tack & Feed which became the whole families passion for 33 years. He was loved by all the met him and never met a stranger. He would spend his free time fishing, one of his great escapes and loved seeing the country. Some of his favorite fishing spots, included Gold Beach, Oregon. Bishop, California and Balch Park, California. He enjoyed everything about history and visiting the national parks, and museums. But most of all he loved time with his family and spent many great days BBQ in his backyard. That he worked endlessly on and loved.
