Obituary

Geraldine Ann Tino (Geri) born September 27, 1946 passed away August 8, 2013 after a long battle with illness. She passed out of this life with her husband and children at her side. She is survived by her husband Tom, her four children, Gary Brown, Steve Brown, Susie Schuetz and Teri Tino and one step-daughter Heather Lasley. Geri was also blessed with nine grand-children: Scott, Lauren & Alexis Brown; Michael, Stephanie & Melissa Brown; Melanie and Elaine Ulrich; and Derek Wilkins.

Geri was born in Burbank, CA, as the first of three children of Dorman and Merville Lewis. She is survived by her sister Beverly, but her brother Dorman, Jr., preceded her into eternity. She was raised in Glendale, CA, and graduated from Glendale High School in 1964. Geri was always proud of the fact that during her Senior year, she was elected as Honor Queen in the Bethel 19 Chapter of Job's daughters. After graduation, she attended Glendale City College and then began her career as a bookkeeper.

In 1972, after her marriage to Tom, she was able to devote herself to her first love—being a mother and raising her children as an at-home Mom. Once that task was well in hand, she devoted much of her time and energy to doing whatever was needed to help out in her church, the New Apostolic Church. In this role, she helped to found two new congregations, sang in various choirs both locally and regionally, served as an organist, taught Sunday School and was an indispensable aid to her husband who was serving as a minister at this time.

In whatever spare time she had, she enjoyed camping, boating, sewing, plaster figurine painting and other crafting activities. Most of all, she enjoyed just being there to experience the growth and visits from her grand-children.

On Tuesday, August 6, after over two months of being on a ventilator with a tracheotomy, she said she was tired and ready to go home. The Lord heard her and was kind to her. He took her home early Thursday morning on August 8. She will continue her work for the Lord now, but in ways that we may not see. She was an inspiration in both her life and in her passing.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm , Saturday, August 17, 2013, in the New Apostolic Church, 500 E. Orangewood Ave., Anaheim, CA. All are invited.
