In Loving Memory of Gerard Richard Pinarija

Gerard Richard Pinarija, affectionately known as Jerry, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at his home in Laguna Woods, California.

Jerry was born on August 26, 1935, in Sukabumi, Indonesia, to his mother, Reim Gertruida Pinarija, and his father, Gerard Richard Bish.

He began his professional life as an accountant and later fulfilled his entrepreneurial dream by owning and operating his own insurance agency in the greater Los Angeles area.

Jerry was a loving and devoted husband, a caring father, a proud grandfather known lovingly as "Opa," and a cherished great-grandfather. Family was always at the center of his life.

He is survived by his son, Richard Pinarija, and his daughter, Sylvia Ball (Steve). He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Shawn, Jonathon, and Kyle Ball; Ashley Watson; Chad and Ryan Pinarija; and Savanna Pinarija. His great-grandchildren include Hayden, Landon, Noa, Lainey Ball; Connor and Addison Watson; and Blake and Wilder Pinarija.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Ferry, Ronald, and Josje; his sisters Fina and Ilonka; his beloved wife, Huiberta "Bev" Pinarija; and his youngest son, Robert G. Pinarija.

Jerry and Bev shared a love of traveling, cruising, and occasional trips to the casino. He especially loved the horse races, enjoyed working on home improvement projects, and took great pleasure in cooking for those he loved. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family and friends.

Services will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at McCormick & Son Mortuary, 25000 Moulton Parkway, Laguna Hills, California, followed by a reception. Bishop Scott McKeon will officiate the service.
