Obituary

Giuseppe “Joe” Diluzio, born March 19, 1926, in Medford, Massachusetts, passed away on July 14, 2026, in Aliso Viejo, California, from cancer. He was 100 years old.

Joe lived a long and meaningful life marked by intelligence, steadiness, kindness, and generosity. Those who knew him remember a man who was always punctual, thoughtful in the way he lived, and wise in the way he approached life, including his enjoyment of investing carefully and responsibly. Reaching the remarkable age of 100 stood as one of the proud milestones of his life, a blessing celebrated by those who loved him.

After graduating from high school, Joe chose to join the United States Navy. He served his country and was honorably discharged on June 13, 1946, as a Seaman First Class. Following the war, he worked for a time with his older brother Pat before making his way to Southern California, where he began a long career with Hughes Aircraft. Joe worked there as an engineer for 30 years before retiring, building a life grounded in dedication and hard work.

Outside of his career, Joe found happiness in simple and familiar pleasures. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, other game shows, and Dodgers baseball. Time spent sharing those interests became cherished time for the people around him. During the last several years of his life, living closely with Joe gave his family the chance to see every day the smart, kind, and generous man he was. Watching Jeopardy! and Dodgers games together became a favorite pastime and a lasting memory.

Joe also took great pride in his family life. He was married to his beloved wife, Suzanne “Su” Diluzio, for more than 60 years, a marriage that reflected devotion and enduring partnership. She preceded him in death about five years ago. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Gianna Diluzio-Majzler, and his sons, Jon and Raphael.

He is survived by his son-in-law, John Majzler; by his granddaughter, Alissandra Majzler; by his brother, Fred Diluzio; and Pat’s son. Their lives, and the lives of all who knew him, were enriched by Joe’s warmth, reliability, and generous spirit.

Joe will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend whose century of life was filled with perseverance, loyalty, and quiet joy. His memory will remain a blessing to his family and to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
