Obituary

Gladys Lamorena entered the gates of heaven at age 83 on December 22, 2016. She died peacefully at home after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family. Gladys is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Alexander Lamorena. She leaves behind four children who adored her: Linda Boyd of Anaheim, Michael Bova of Corona, Patrick Bova of Orange and Dina Barreras of Corona and their spouses: Therese Bova, Jessica Pitts-Bova and Gene Barreras. Gladys is survived by four grandchildren who were each the light of her life: Taylor Boyd, McKenna Bova, Garrett Bova and Ryatt Bova.

Gladys was born in 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri to her parents, Walter and Bernice McCullough. She grew up in St. Louis and was the oldest of four children. She made memories with her brother, Louis McCullough of Murrieta, and her sisters, Sharon Rabideau and Kathy Doran, who pre-deceased her. She married the first love of her life, Michael Bova, in 1952. They moved to Anaheim in 1959 to join her parents and begin a new life in sunny California. Gladys enjoyed life with Michael until his death in 1968.

Gladys married the second love of her life, Alexander Lamorena, in 1970 and they spent the past 46 years devoted to each other, raising their family and enjoying their grandchildren. They moved to Laguna Niguel in 1995. She was welcomed with open arms by the Lamorena, Ebilane and Gamboa families who taught her how to cook Filipino food. Gladys was a telephone operator at Pacific Bell for 28 years before her retirement.

Gladys and Alex could be seen often watching and cheering on the sidelines at the soccer, volleyball and baseball games of their grandchildren. She had a passion for her four legged children as well and always had treats for Bailey, Diesel, Nessa, Ava, Tyson, Bentley, Logan, Sammy, Boots and Mollie.

Gladys loved cooking, trips to Las Vegas, winning at mahjong and rooting for her beloved Angels baseball team. Above everything, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Her legacy will live on in the children she loved and raised and in the hearts of friends far and wide. Because we knew her, we've been changed for good.
