Obituary

Gloria Letishia Davis was born on January 3, 1949 and passed
away on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the age of 68 in Newport
Beach, California. She is survived by her six children, Philip
Davis, Shondra Allen, Letishia Davis, Jasmine Davis, Jeremy
Davis, and Sierra Davis. And by her nine grandchildren, Isaac
Edmiston, Isaiaac Allen, Destiny Davis, Devin Littlejohn,
Josline Davis, Caden-Emmanuel Davis, Mayleonna Davis, Eli
Davis, and Mariah Allen; and by her sister, Betty Louise
Smiley.
Gloria was born in San Diego, California to Eleanor Mildred
Anderson Williams and Isaac Williams. Her father, Isaac, was
a founding Pastor of Grant AME Church in Long Beach, California.
He was also in the Navy, so Gloria lived in a number of
different Navy cities while she was growing up, including Long
Beach California, San Diego California, and Japan. Gloria
served in the enlisted ranks of the Navy herself, from October
1968 to May 1970 and was stationed in Washington D.C. She
married Sherman Joe Davis. She attended Long Beach City
College, where she earned an Associate Degree In Arts and
Administration of Justice, and Cerritos College, where she
earned a Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal Studies and also made
Dean's Honor List. She was a recent resident of Orange,
California, near where she had been working since 2000 at
Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law first as a
faculty assistant and then as Executive Assistant to the Dean.
Gloria loved music; she grew up playing the piano and organ
for Grant AME Church in Long Beach, California. She also loved
spending time with her kids and grand kids, and just sitting
down working on puzzles. Gloria loved to travel as well. She
was well known for her laugh and good sense of humor. She also
didn't bite her tongue but instead told it like it is. She
was a treasured friend to many. From Jackie Collins who Gloria
would always take her kids over to see. And Gloria and Jackie
would play Dominoes together. To John Eastman, for whom she
worked at Chapman when he was the Dean there and who is
considered family and everyone else at Chapman University.
Gloria is up in heaven having the time of her life. She is
reconnected with her mom and dad and also her good friend
Gretchen. Gloria adored her children and grandchildren and
will be sorely missed by her friends and family.
Per Gloria's wishes, her ashes will be interred at the grave
site of her parents in Angeles Abbey Memorial Park in Compton,
California.
