On Tuesday, January 5th, 2021, Gregory James Palmer, loving husband, father of four, grandfather of ten, and great grandfather of one, passed away at the age of 73.Gregory was born on September 25, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan.He is a veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1966 until 1972 for the United States Air Force.Greg was the youngest of two sons of Cyril and Nancy Palmer.On February 11, 1968 he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Grace O'Brien.Together they raised two daughters Grace and Cynthia, and two sons, Matthew and Scott.
Greg worked as a Fire Mechanic for the Huntington Beach Fire Department until 1979, when he then purchased and operated a small liquor store. He took pride in organizing and running the family-owned business through 2000 when they chose to sell the store.It wasn't long after he began his encore career working in the wine industry.In 2005 he earned the distinguishing title Sommelier from the Court of Masters Sommelier and served as a Wine Educator and Ambassador for Robert Mondavi Golden Vine Winery at Disney California Adventure until 2015 when he and Elizabeth retired- again.Greg enjoyed engaging with the guest and truly making them feel unique and special.He was well respected within the wine community and was known for his wisdom, humor, kindness, love, and vast knowledge.
Greg loved cooking and celebrating life over a beautiful meal.He loved BBQing, baking, and preparing a feast for the family always.He was an avid music lover and a lifelong Vegas fan.Most of all Greg was Papa, a generous, loving, caring provider for his entire family.
Greg was preceded in death by his daughter Grace.He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; three children Cynthia, Matthew, Scott; ten grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Andrew, Matthew, Tyler, Alexis, Jeffery, Brian, Natalie, Sophia, and great grandson Caiden.
