Helen Matthews was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She fell asleep in the Lord peacefully on February 18, 2025 at the age of 88. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.

She was born in Akron Ohio on March 2, 1936 to Greek immigrants and lived a life devoted to her family, friends and her church.

Helen married her beloved husband, Ron Matthews on August 25, 1963. They were married for 52 years before his passing in 2016. Ron and Helen had two children, Ron and Kristie. In the early years of their marriage Helen worked as an elementary school teacher for the Orange Unified School District, but she was primarily a loving wife, mother and YiaYia. Helen loved spending quality time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed annual family vacations to The Big Island of Hawaii. Her hobbies were dabbling at writing poetry, baking her famous Greek paximadia cookies and shopping.

Helen was a devoted parishioner at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church in Irvine, CA where she served Christ through the philanthropic outreach organization, Philoptochos. Here she developed many deep friendships.

Helen is survived by her son Ron, his wife Cherise and their sons Isaiah, Christopher and Luke. Her daughter Kristie, her husband James and their daughters Kayla and Marco, Kelsey and Katie.
