Helen Beatrice Spier was born September 25, 1914 and passed away on March 23, 2016 at the age of 101 in Lake Forest, California. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Shade and son-in-law, Ross Shade; her son, Thomas Dunbar; her granddaughters, Camille Shade, Staci Henry, Tani Armstrong, her grandson-in-law, Gary Armstrong, and Aymee Dunbar; her great-granddaughters, Candace Fahlstrom, her great-grandson-in-law, Edward Fahlstrom, Jacqueline Brown, and Samantha Henry; her great-great granddaughter, Charlotte Fahlstrom; her sister, Donna Adelia Ochoa.
Helen was born in Gila Bend, Arizona to her parents, Frank and Adelia Leon. She was the tenth of eleven children, grew up in Tucson, Arizona and later moved to Los Angeles, California. She married the love of her life, Dr. Keith Frick who made her happy and completed her. Sadly, he passed away at the young age of 54. Helen eventually settled in Lake Forest, California where she spent the last half of her life. She married Dr. Robert Spier and they were both involved in many activities and social events in the Forest Garden Community.
Helen enjoyed traveling, reading Nora Roberts romance novels, dancing, playing cards and spending time with her family. She had a positive aura about her that everyone found inviting. Her smile captivated all who met her. She was a treasured friend to people of all ages and was an inspiration of love to her family.
Her family and friends are invited to her Celebration of Life followed by a luncheon reception at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Mission Viejo, California 92691 on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.
