Obituary

Homa Sabouri
Homa Sabouri began her journey June 23rd 1937 in Tehran, Iran.
She stopped counting the years at 83 in Mission Viejo, California
on November 14th 2020.

She was preceded in death by her parents Abdoullah Sabouri
and Jahan Shafie, her brother Hamid, and her devoted husband
Nader Khan Behnam. She is survived by siblings Mahboob,
Mohamad, and Shahla.

She was a loving mother to Ramin, Kamran, Ziba, and Neda;
a loving grandmother to Roxana, Nikki, Natasha, Kayla, and
Emma; and a loving great grandmother to Colette and Roman.

A daughter of Iran who loved nature, she was happiest when she was in the woods or at the seashore. Her favorite flower was the red rose. Her fondest childhood memory was watching the rose bud as it blossomed. Later in life, she connected with the earth through the roots of the many plants, flowers, and trees Kamran planted for her in the back yard.

Homa was a kind and loving soul to everyone she encountered. She had a passion for cooking and feeding all that came through the door. The door was always open, and the house was never empty. At any given time, there would be friends or relatives living with the family and enjoying the hospitality that Homa was famous for. After she passed, we heard from friends all over the world. Many had been guests in the house, while some had been there for visits and meals. Almost all mentioned one of the recipes she had gladly shared.

She was devoted to the less fortunate or those in need. Anyone who had a funeral, job loss, wedding, new baby, new house, or anything unexpected expense received help from Homa. No one ever had to ask, she was always there. By nature, half of whatever she had was given to the less fortunate. It was her calling. She truly had unconditional love.

She was always eager for a trip and adventure. She lived in Iran, India, and the USA. She visited Canada, Germany, Spain, and Italy.Of all the places she visited in the world, her favorite place was Kelardasht in the northern part of Iran.

We honor Homa; we honor her courage in life, we honor her love for life, and we honor her as a mother.

She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, generosity, and joyful spirit. Her wings were ready, but our hearts were not! However, as Rumi said best "Don't grieve; anything you lose comes around in another form."

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday November 28th at El Toro Memorial Park.

"Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words, and missed beyond measure."

من نور پاکم ای پسر نه مشت خاکم مختصر
آخر صدف من نیستم من در شهوار آمدم
مرغ باغ ملکوتم نی ام از عالم خاک
دو سه روزی قفسی ساخته‌اند از بدنم
