Ilse Denise Barbieri McGinn, born August 6, 1933, passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Capistrano Senior Living Facility.

She was born in Salzburg Austria to a high society, influential family until WW II when the family suffered financially, not to mention trauma from living in a war-torn country.

Unable to finance her university, she worked as a translator for the Americans, where she met and married Domenico Michael Barbieri (military man). This led to her move to the U.S. leaving her parents and sister behind.

She raised 2 children: Ronald Michael Barbieri (deceased) and Jean Ann Voska (living)
Her husband died in his 40's leaving her a widower, but she was strong and went on to remarry another military man, where she resided in the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica, eventually ending up in Austin Texas.

Ilse finished her bachelor's degree in accounting and worked for the State of Texas until she retired and moved to California in 1998 where her daughter, Jean, her husband, Donald and her 2 grandchildren resided.

Her grandchildren, who survive her, Jeda Lynn Voska and Emanuel Victor Voska were the most important people to her and there was a strong bond due to her being always in their lives.

She was loving and generous, full of life, and fully devoted to those she loved. She enjoyed dancing the most in life, along with hiking, decorating her homes, ping pong, traveling, being a dog owner (several poodles) and gardening.
Her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Donald Voska also survive her and took great care of her in later years as she developed a chronic terminal condition

There will be an immediate family only service at McCormick & Sons funeral chapel on Monday, January 27, 2015.

After which will follow a ceremony at her final burial grounds with her first husband at Arlington National Cemetery .
