Obituary

Jack Allan Campion was born on February 3rd, 1943, in Los Angeles County, California, to Evelyn and Jack A. Campion. He was the second of eventually four sons. After WWII, Evelyn and jack Senior divorced, and she married Ted Lewis and moved and settled with Jack and brothers to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There, along with two more brothers, the boys enjoyed life and many sports.

For jack, baseball and the Milwaukee braves were an obsession. With his brownie camera, Jack set off to the nearby stadium to meet players, watch practice and take pictures. He'd develop these, send them to the managers for autographs, and begin his incredible collection of baseball memorabilia. Becoming so well known and liked by the athletes and staff, he was once invited into the Braves locker room to meet Ty Cobb, a memory always cherished.

Jack himself was a fine athlete and student. He earned a full scholarship to the University of Wisconsin in Madison to play both football and baseball. Following graduation, he was drafted by the Cowboys, and then traded to the Chicago Bears. Unfortunately, he received an induction notice, and then chose to join the Marines. He entered service as an officer, and ever a leader, became a Marine Captain during the Vietnam War. As a combat officer, he earned two purple hearts and a silver star, leaving after 38 months of service.

Following Jack heroic patriotic service, Jack spent two years in Hawaii, regaining some sense of sanity, and earning his Masters in Business and Finance. He was fiercely independent and used this knowledge and curious love of business to start his own leasing and finance company.

Jack married Susan Hobbs in 1994, and they settled in Laguna Niguel. The couple have no children.

Jack had many interests besides sports. He loved photography—particularly taking pictures of animals in the wild. This took jack and Susan traveling often to beautiful places like Yellowstone, Canada and Alaska. They also traveled across the United States and visited as far north as Quebec, Canada.

Jack loved life. He loved Susan and was a husband that brought her laughter, adventure, and good times. Both learned and grew through their relationship and love. Both share a love of God and others.

Athletic and war injuries were many, and during Jack's last years he was handicapped and unable to be as active as he'd liked. He remained cheerful, and hopeful, as he watched is sports teams: the Badgers, Angels, Rams, and Chargers. Good or bad, he was a loyal fan.

There will be a celebration of Life on a future date.
