James Theodore Cook, 88 died from heart complications on Wednesday, February 6th, 2019 while at Saddleback Memorial Hospital in Laguna Hills, California.His family was by his side.
James was born September 16th, 1930 in Fargo, North Dakota to Olin Dale Cook and Margaret Theodora Cook (Ellingson).
His childhood and early teenage years were packed full of memories and experiences growing up in North Dakota, including many visits to his Grandparents farm in Minnesota.His parents packed their family of 3 sons and 1 daughter (James, Lynn, Dean, and Daryl) and moved from North Dakota to California when James was a teenager.James was the oldest of the 4 children.They settled in Downey, California.
James attended Downey High School and met his wife, Patricia Sue Cramer at the Downey Methodist Church when he was around 18 or 19 years of age.They were married on April 4th, 1953 and married 48 years before her passing on April 3, 2001. They had 2 children whom are still living, Daniel and Suzanne. James lived the last 55 yeas of his life in Orange County, California in the cities of Yorba Linda and Lake Forest.
After high school and in the early chapter of his marriage to Patricia, he continued his education and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering from UCLA, California. His college years at UCLA were temporarily interrupted when he was drafted into the Korean War serving with the ARMY.He worked about 45 years in the Mechanical/Electrical Engineering industry and his work included 3 designs that were patented under US Patents.
James was a loving son, supporting husband and incredibly loving father and grandfather. He was known for always being, as many have quoted "such a nice, intelligent and jovial man who always had that calming voice and words of wisdom to share."
He is survived by James and Patricia's children, Daniel and Suzanne. Also by his 2 grandsons that he truly adored and was so proud of – Hunter (20) and Hudson (14) from his daughter's marriage with her husband Richard Neafcy. In addition, James is survived by his sister from Wisconsin, Daryl Campbell along with many cousins, nieces and nephews throughout the country.
