A Letter from Jim to You All
"Hello. If you are reading this I guess it means that I've passed on. I was diagnosed with brain cancer about six months ago. Ginger has just settled, or is in the process of settling into, memory care. I'm here enjoying wine and sunset from our deck. Eric told me that now would be a good time for me to start leaving messages and such for others. He seemed to have big plans for that, having organized all our photo albums. I think I might disappoint him (I've been busy with less morbid priorities :) ). I guess he does have a point, though. So..... here's me toasting you all. For all my surviving brothers and sisters, here's to our shared childhood memories, to the degree we overlapped during our experience on the farm, and beyond. Here's to all my co-workers at Kawasaki and at OH. I tried to contribute where I could. Keep the sales flowing and the good times rolling. To all the neighbors Ginger and I have been able to meet since moving here in 1978, here's a toast to you. Keep the trick-or-treaters at bay and the Friday driveway happy hours going. You've been like family to us. To all my nephews, nieces, in-laws and other extended family, thanks for all the memories. Ginger and I enjoyed visiting with and hosting you over the years. To Eric and Trang and their Princesses v1.0 and v2.0, here's to you. Ginger and I will be barbecuing hamburgers from the sky for you every Xmas eve. We had many good years of grandparenting...... If I had any advice at my age it would be to trust your own best advice, to love how you love, and follow your dreams.
Ok, I'm nearing the 1/2 point on my bottle here -- I'm taking a break from the anti-cancer keto diet Eric has me on, but shhhhhhh don't tell him -- here's a final toast to everyone else reading these words who has been part of our lives. You are too numerous to name. Remember to enjoy life as much as we did. Use any funeral service as an excuse to have a party and move on with life. Spread our ashes at lake Havasu or Maui. When you look at the sunset you can think of Ginger and me Jet Skiing beyond the horizon (depending where you are in at least one direction or another). Well, thats's enough for all this good bye fuss. Ginger and I are going to Dana Point tomorrow if the weather is good. Take care, all. We'll miss you when we're not otherwise occupied. Thanks for all the good memories and remember to keep the good times flowing! Love, Jim and Ginger."
