Obituary

James Siuan Liang passed away peacefully in his home in Irvine on Monday, June 3, 2024.

Born to Tin-Kun Liang and Ah-Chung Chang on June 2, 1927 in Taoyuan, Taiwan under Japanese colonial rule, James had six siblings. When he was in high school, James was conscripted by the Imperial Japanese Army to serve as a Kamikaze pilot in WWII. Fortunately, the day before he was to be deployed on his mission, the emperor announced the end of the war.

After the war, James worked at Shin Kong Textiles for 50 years, working his way up from the factory to becoming a manager. In 1956, he married Annie Liang and together they had three children. In 1979, James and his family immigrated to the United States of America for a better life and education for his children. He was extremely hardworking and took care of his parents his whole life.

James loved fishing, golf, and being out in nature. He cultivated a beautiful garden at home with a large variety of plants, including several bonsai. Even in his older age, he would often sit outside to bask in the sun and fresh air.

A private family service will be held Sunday, June 30, 2014, 11:00 AM at Pacific View Memorial Park, 3500 Pacific View Drive in Newport Beach. James will be laid to rest with both his parents.
