IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jamshid
Hajir
February 18, 1933 – February 15, 2025
Jamshid Hajir, born in Tehran, Iran on February 18, 1933 passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on February 15, 2025 (three days shy of his 92nd birthday) in Irvine, California. Born to Azizallah and Soghra Hajir, he was the oldest of their three children. He had a younger brother, Parviz (passed 2023), and has a younger sister, Pari. As a young man, he moved to Southern Iran for employment with the Iranian Oil Company where he met the love of his life Tooran (Fariba) and they were married after a short courtship on December 17, 1964. They had three children, Mahshid (Michelle), Farshid and Farshad. In the midst of the Iranian revolution of 1979, they moved to the United States of America. At first they settled in Cranford, New Jersey then bought their first home in South Orange, New Jersey in 1982.
Jamshid had a love of learning, reading, traveling, chess, swimming, long walks and poetry. He spoke three languages fluently: Persian (Farsi), English and French. He was educated at the University of Beirut and Tehran University with degrees in Health Science, Political Science and Law. He worked for 27 years as the Director of Health Services of the Southern Iranian Oil Company. With the support of his loving wife, he decided to pursue a different career and followed his passion for political science and law. He taught English for the Air Force Academy in Tehran to support his wife and children while pursuing his law degree at the prestigious University of Tehran.
After moving to America, he obtained a position in the Legal department of American International Group, Inc. (AIG) in New York where he proudly worked and retired after 30 years of employment. During his professional career, he often received commendations from his superiors, colleagues and clients for his great work ethic, positive attitude and great skills in working with people. After retirement he moved to Northampton, Massachusetts and then he moved to Irvine, California in 2017. Due to declining health issues, he moved to assisted living at Woodbridge Terrace, where he was lovingly known as Jim.
Jamshid treasured his faith in God and the family he created was his pride and joy. He would tell all of his friends at his assisted living facility, how much he loved his beautiful wife, three children and six grandchildren. He dearly loved his son-law Cyrus- Mahshid's husband and his daughter-in-law Marilou - Farshad's wife. His greatest pleasure in life was being Grandpa to his six grandchildren: Nikou, Neda (Mahshid's daughters), Alexander, Giselle (Farshid's children) and Kai, Darius (Farshad's sons).
He was very charming, intelligent and loved by many, including by his loving family in Iran. He adored all of his nephews, nieces and their children. He was also popular at his assisted living, with his memory care facility staff, with the residents, and with the Angels Hospice nurses.
A Celebration of Life in Jamshid Hajir's honor will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 9:00 am at McCormick and Son Mortuaries Chapel in Laguna Hills, California. He will be laid to rest at El Toro Memorial Cemetery in Lake Forest, California with a private burial.
