IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janice Dee
Rowley
November 26, 1953 – September 23, 2025
Janice Dee Rowley, born on November 26, 1953, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven with the loving embrace of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 23, 2025. She was 71. Janice lived a majority of her life in California, most recently Lake Forest. She also lived in Santa Clarita, Laguna Niguel, Lakewood and Long Beach. Janice also called Yelm, Washington home for a while, loving the seasons it brought and the unique birds to catalog. She loved scenic drives, "taking a loop" as she would say it. She especially desired visiting National Parks to claim a passport stamp. During those drives she would plot a course to see historical landmarks along the way because she was a master genealogist and loved to put a picture to the history she had been researching for the family. Seeing the things her ancestors saw and feeling the space her ancestors once lived was very special to her.
When Janice wasn't researching or sightseeing, she could be found playing the piano, reading a book, or beating everybody at her favorite game "Rummikub" (she had a knack for chaining moves and seeing things nobody else could see). She also loved baking treats for her family, like jam bars, oatmeal cookies and pumpkin bars. A favorite treat her family looked forward to was the sherry cake she made every New Year's Eve.
Some of Janice's favorite times were when her entire family gathered under one roof for the holidays. She is survived by her husband of 51 years Spark, her daughter Sarah, her son Tim, her grandchildren Logan, Ben, Payton, Jonah, and Emma (who lovingly called her Grammie), her son-in-law Jon and her daughter-in-law Charity. Each of whom have special memories and gained wisdom through spending time with her (Proverbs 22:6 and 31:26).
She is also survived by her brother Dan, sisters in-law Kathy and Janice, brothers-in law Bob and Todd, mother-in-law Rhoda, and nieces and nephews Gary, Cheri, Kim, Holly, Josh, Katie, Zack and Lauren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Beverly, father-in-law Seibert, sister Sue and nephew Dave.
Janice was a devout Christian. She bore her cross and kept the faith (Luke 9:23) to be welcomed by Jesus proclaiming, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." (Matthew 25:21). She drew strength, hope, peace, and wisdom through Jesus' teachings in The Gospels, and especially loved The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12). She would say, "How amazing it must be to look into Jesus' eyes". Now she knows.
One of her favorite places was Dana Point Harbor where she'd sit with Spark to watch the boats come in and out, laugh at the seals trodding along the docks, and enjoy a moment of peace and tranquility. She will be laid to rest via scattering at sea on October 10th a few miles off the jetty.
