Jayson Haruss Garland-Mocnik, beloved 25-year-old son of Jayne-Mari Garland and Gary Steven Mocnik, left life in this world for a better place on September 10, 2014.
He passed away in his Laguna Niguel home where he lived the majority of his life. In addition to his parents, Jayson is lovingly remembered by his sister, Kiara Garland Mocnik, his step-mother Kathy Boggio-Mocnik, his step-brother, Ryan Basaites, and his grandparents, Kimiko Garland, Norma Mocnik and Harry Mocnik. Like family, Al Talavera, Lisa Talavera, Stephanie Talavera, Christine Talavera, and Alan Talavera additionally hold him dearly, as does his long-time girlfriend, Breesa Mitchell.
Jayson was born July 27, 1989 in Newport Beach California. He attended Marion Bergeson Elementary School, St. Margaret's Episcopal Middle School, Aliso Viejo Middle School, Orange County School of the Arts, and Aliso Niguel High School.
Jayson studied music, primarily piano, his entire life, and received numerous awards and accolades for his original compositions, performances, and classical music competitions.
He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and worked as a musician and music teacher in Orange County California. His career plan was to work in music production, where his amazing musical gifts could be well utilized.
All who have been blessed to know him will miss Jayson's heart of gold. Jayson lives forever in ours hearts, treasured, and tenderly remembered, until we meet again.
In celebration of Jayson's life, a service will be held at South Shores Church, 32712 Crown Valley Parkway, Dana Point, CA on Saturday, September 20, 2014. (Light reception to follow)
