Obituary

Jeanette Lane, 89, formerly of Billings, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 5, 2014. She was born April 30, 1925 in Owasso, Michigan, but lived many years in Washington before moving with her husband and family to Billings in 1969. For the last two years she lived in southern California near her children. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Robert Lane. The had been happily married for 52 years. She is survived by their three children, Jeff Lane of Silverado Canyon, Dr. Lesa Lane of Red Bluff, and Debra Greyn of Lake Forest, and three grandchildren. All of her children and grandchildren live in California.

Jeanette loved the arts. In her younger days she studied voice and was often a soloist at churches and gatherings. She enjoyed oil painting. Some of her work she sold, other paintings decorated her home. In her later years her artistic nature turned her toward poetry. She delighted in being a published poet and was especially proud of being a member of the International Society of Poets. Jeanette was also a member of the Billing's chapters of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile.

While married, Bob and Jeanette spent their winters in Billings, eagerly awaiting the melting of the snows so that they could return to Trout Creek and their halcyon days spent on Noxon Reservoir. There, they boated and investigated all the inlets and bays, giving special names to all their favorite spots, Together, they explored all the back roads and mountain tops, glorying in the wonder of nature. She has left this earth to join our father in the exploration of another place. He is there, beckoning to Mother, "Come, take my hand/And bid this mundane world goodbye.../For I must go where dragons fly" (J. Lane 1997).
