Obituary

Gina as she was known to friends and family was a loving Mother, Wife, Sister and Friend to all who knew her. Gina was born on May 30, 1963 in New York City, New York. She was the first born to her loving parents, Gene and Carmen Rodriguez who were both waiting for her in Heaven. Gina was the oldest of three and was the "big sister" to Lynn and brother Gino.

In 1979 her parents relocated from New York to Garden Grove, California. After graduating high school she attended Cal State Long Beach graduating with a degree in Criminal Justice. She then enrolled and graduated from Western School of Law with her Juris Doctorate. She was accepted into the bar and became a Deputy District Attorney for the County of Orange. She eventually moved over to the Child Support Services Division defending the rights of those that could not.

Gina concentrated on her education and career in the early part of her life and spent over 22 years practicing law. But Gina always wanted a family and 10 years ago she married her love and husband Kurt and instantly gained a daughter, Whitney. Gina was then blessed with the joy of her life, her son Ryan. She embraced this new role of being a wife and mother. She truly loved giving herself to her family as she had always done to anyone that knew her.

Gina loved and embraced life. She could often be found with Kurt on their Harley, visiting wine country, spending lazy days at the beach, or skiing in Mammoth. Gina was an exceptional cook and at one point in her life actually taught cooking classes on the side. Gina was famous for her ribs, crème brulee and pomegranate martini's. She loved having family and friends over to her home. She always made everyone feel special. Holidays were a special time for her as she had many family traditions. From Thanksgiving dinners, to decorating gingerbread houses with the kids or visiting the big tree at Fashion Island, Gina was always organizing some event. And speaking of organized, Gina was Miss Organization. She was loved and hated for this skill all at the same time! You knew the job was not complete until you heard Gina say, "Done."

Gina spent 50 years on this earth and while we feel she was taken way too soon, we have peace knowing that she has gone home to be with her Lord. She will forever be missed by those she left behind, but we cherish the many fond memories we have with her and look forward to the day when we will once again be reunited in Heaven.
