IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jerry Lee
Debusk
May 10, 1945 – November 19, 2024
Our Dad, Jerry Lee DeBusk, age 79, left his earth, peacefully, Tuesday November 19th, to be reunited with his wife and love, Pamela. He passed away surrounded by his family, following a lengthy tough battle with kidney disease.
Jerry was born in Sunnyside Washington on May 10th, 1945. He was raised by his loving parents Elmer and May DeBusk in Buellton California, a small town in the Santa Ynez Valley. While in high school, Dad was very active in Basketball, 4-H club, and band.
After graduating high school, Jerry married and moved his young family to Costa Mesa, California where he pursued a secondary teaching credential at Long Beach State University. He worked many jobs to support his young family and pay for school, but had his sights set on
teaching and coaching basketball. Dad made his early coaching mark at Long Beach Poly, Costa Mesa, Newport Harbor high school during these years.
In 1981, he married Pamela DeBusk, where they eventually settled in Aliso Viejo. He continued his passion for teaching/coaching at Chapman College and Santa Margarita Catholic HS. His coaching career began in the early 70's and spanned nearly 40 years in the Orange county area. His love and commitment to teaching/mentoring both his students and players was evident. As a coach, "Jerry embodied the values he instilled in his players and significantly impacted those who knew him".
Our Dad had many hobbies, loves and passions; First and foremost Pam, his children, grandchildren, taking care of animals (his many beloved pets, Colonel the horse), watching the "horses" at the track, vacationing with family, barbeques in the backyard, relaxing in the hot tub, cooking and planning bucket list trips to Paris and Italy, with Pam. He was also very grateful for the many lifelong friendships he had with fellow basketball coaches, colleagues and friends. He is remembered and survived by his daughter Teri DeBusk-Schroeder (Lou), his son Craig DeBusk (Kelly) and daughter Kaylee DeBusk-Abuah (Muanya). His grandchildren and great grandchildren will miss him dearly; Luke Schroeder (Taylor), Madeline Schroeder (Mica), Zach Schroeder, Hayden DeBusk, Brady DeBusk, Slade Schroeder and Ace Schroeder. Also Survived by brother Mayland DeBusk ( Jeanette).
Our family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Nguyen, Dr. Ozuzun, Dr. Rueland and the staff at Fresenius Dialysis center in Laguna Canyon for their compassionate care of our Dad the last 5+ years.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Judes Childrens Hospital in
