Joe Mesa Cruz passed away peacefully at 100 years old in his Irvine California home on May 12, 2022. He was born on March 21, 1922 in Agana, Guam to Jose and Andrea Cruz. He was the second eldest of 11 children.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 18, served in World War II and Korea and retired after 20 years. He then worked at the University of California, Irvine, Medical Center in Orange from 1960 to 1980 and the Irvine School District from 1980 -1986.
Joe loved to cook, play ping pong, watch wrestling and boxing. His favorite pastime was playing the slots at his casino of choice Pechanga. He was known as "Ping Dinga" to his loved ones.He was a devoted, steadfast, loving Father and the epitome of a hardworking and good provider for his family.
He was surrounded by his loved ones in his final days. Joe is survived by his 7 children; Andrea Uhler; Vito Buono; Joe (Teri) Cruz; Jeffrey Cruz; Florence Cruz; Elvis (Maria) Cruz; Christal Butler Cruz; 12 grandchildren;20 great grandchildren; sister Lillian De Castro and brother Herb Cruz.
