Obituary

John passed away at home after a longtime battle with cancer; he went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2014. John was the 7th child of Nellie L & Robert E. McDonald and was born on January 5, 1935 in Mount Clemens, Michigan. John is survived by his wife Anna, and three children, Ruth Ann (John) Ploppert, John Billie Cattermole, and Gregary (Jeanee) McDonald, He will be sadly missed by Anna's children Mike (Celeste) Marr, Ken (Mindy) Marr, Tim (Terri) and their children. John was the grandfather to 10 children and great-grandfather to 11 children, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

John graduated from Mount Clements High School, Michigan, in 1952. There he played on the football team where they promptly nicknamed him "Moosey". Serving 3 years in the United States Army, John also found time to play drums in the Army Band. Later, for 15 years John and his longtime friend John Czarski co-led and played in their band which was a very happy time in both their lives. John was a 50 year Master Mason with lodge #6 of Mount Clemens, Michigan. After 25 years of dedicated work, he retired as a lineman for D.T.E. Co Detroit, Michigan. For the last 3 years John sang and served as a trustee for the Laguna Country United Methodist Church. Along with many other endeavors, such as boating, fishing, and traveling the great outdoors. John and his wife Anna were also long time members of T.O.P.S.. John will be greatly missed.
