John Atwood Brush, born April 28, 1951 in Glendale, CA,  passed away on December 7, 2022 at the age of 71 in Mission Viejo, California. He is survived by his wife, Vikki Brush, his daughter, Jennifer Brush, his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Penny Brush, his brother Greg Brush, and his niece, Becky Brush. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bradford and Marian Brush.

John built a full and vibrant life in his home state of California. After high school, John attended the University of Redlands, where he played collegiate tennis. John was proud of his tennis career, rising to the top position of the Redland tennis team and being remembered for driving from match to match in his green VW Minibus.

It was in California where he met his wife, Vikki, and where they married on October 20, 1988. It was around this time John began his 35 year career in accounting to support his new family, continuing his enjoyment of the discipline even after retirement and often acting as the de facto financial advisor for the entire family. In 1992, John and Vikki were blessed with their child Jennifer, completing the Brush family. He shared with Jennifer a love of raising bunnies, a passion for the environment, and even some of his prowess for accounting and finance.

John had a persistent sense of humor, full of "Dad jokes" which will be fondly missed. With the self-professed "world's worst memory," John jokingly nicknamed everyone he met as "Frenchie" or "Hank." John loved to jest that his greatest athletic achievements were anytime he beat his brother Bill in sports.

John's greatest passion in life was cycling around Orange County. He annually watched the Tour de France and enjoyed many bike rides along the California coastline with Jennifer, who will forever treasure those memories. His last moments were spent doing what he loved, biking in his hometown of Rancho Santa Margarita.

His family will lovingly keep these memories alive. Services will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 12 PM at Santiago de Compostela (21682 Lake Forest Dr., Lake Forest, CA 92630). He will be laid to rest at El Toro Memorial Park.
