IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jorge Salvador
Valdivia
June 9, 1942 – June 21, 2025
Jorge Salvador Valdivia, born on June 9, 1942, in Aguascalientes, Mexico, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, at the age of 83. As a young child, he moved with his family to Los Angeles, where he began a lifelong journey defined by perseverance, humility, and deep love for those around him. Coming from humble beginnings, he worked tirelessly to learn English and excelled academically while attending Catholic school. He had a passion for sports and a lifelong love of cars, which would stay with him throughout his life.
After graduating from high school, Jorge proudly served in the United States Army. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Shirley Valdivia. They married in 1966 and welcomed their first child while stationed at Fort Irwin military base. Upon completing his service, Jorge proudly obtained American citizenship and followed his passion for mechanics by becoming a machinist. He and Shirley had a second son in 1969, and the family eventually settled in Mission Viejo, California in the mid-70s. There, Jorge began a long and fulfilling career at the San Onofre Nuclear Plant where his hard work and perseverance led him to advance to the role of Engineer.
Jorge's heart was always with his family and loved ones. Being a devoted husband, father, brother, cousin, uncle, friend, and neighbor wasn't just important to him - it was who he was. He carried deep pride in his Mexican roots and never forgot where he came from. With his calm presence, warm smile, and honest nature, people knew they could always count on him. Even in retirement he stayed full of life spending his days working on his beloved hot rods, being actively involved with car clubs and shows, traveling, caring for his home and yard with love, and never going far without his trusty bottle of Tapatío hot sauce.
Jorge was greeted in heaven by his son Steven Valdivia, his brother Jesse Valdivia, sister Maria Valdivia, mother Margarita Valdivia, and father Salvador Valdivia. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Shirley Valdivia, son Anthony Sean Valdivia, sisters Mary Guerrero and Margaret Cannett, and his cousin in-law Elizabeth Lyles.
He will leave behind a legacy of love, strength, and quiet dignity that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
