Obituary

Joy Green Lindahl, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on Monday, May 14, 2018.

Joy was born on July 11, 1928 in Layton, Utah to Otha Kirkman Green and Elizabeth Ellison Green. She had two siblings, Lowell Ellison Green and Kathleen Green Wallace.Joy was always proud of her pioneer heritage including early Layton settlers Christopher Layton, Ephraim P. Ellison and George Darling Watt.

Joy attended Davis County schools and graduated from Davis High School in 1946.Upon completion of her freshman year at the University of Utah, she met and was courted by a local Salt Lake boy, Blaine Lindahl. After a short engagement, they were married on November 15, 1947. They were subsequently sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

Blaine and Joy were blessed with 6 children. After living in Salt Lake City, San Diego, Kearns, and Butler Hill, they moved in 1958 to Orange County California where they enjoyed raising and watching their family grow for the next 60 years.

Joy had many hobbies and especially loved to sew, crochet and knit.As a skilled seamstress, she created most of the family's clothing, and was proud of her many beautiful hand tied quilts and baby booties.True to her pioneer heritage, her goal was to make everything a person might wear. Her homes are filled with sewing machines and piles of fabric.

Devoted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joy served in many different callings, but her favorite was serving as an ordinance worker in the Los Angeles and San Diego Temples where she and Blaine made many everlasting friendships.

Although she loved to travel, and visited many interesting places, her favorite spot was the family ranch in Daniel, Utah. While Blaine rode horses, drove his tractor and fished the local streams, Joy continued to perfect her sewing and homemaking skills. A highlight of each year was her Utah pilgrimage to can peaches and tomatoes. With Blaine, she loved to drive through the beautiful Utah Mountains.

Most of all, she loved spending time with her growing family including her 20 grandchildren and 62 (and continually increasing) great grandchildren. With them, she was at her very best, setting an example of love, gratitude and generosity that none will ever forget.

In addition to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Joy leaves behind her loving husband Blaine Gray Lindahl, their six children and their spouses:Tina and Jim Whitesides, Jim and Colette Lindahl, Kirk and Janet Lindahl, Jane and Erik Larsen, David and Rene Lindahl, and Elizabeth and Kyle Robinson.
