Evonne passed away at Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana on June 3 after contracting Covid-19. She was born January 29, 1936 in Paris, Texas to George Lovett Campbell and Eva Lola Campbell, nee Andrews. In the 1940's her family moved to Northern California settling in Vallejo. Throughout her adult life she worked for the State of California as a Psychiatric Technician and Licensed Vocational Nurse starting at Atascadero Hospital, then Patton and ending her career at Fairview State Hospital in Costa Mesa. In 1994 she was forced to go on disability after suffering a stroke. This caused her to need nursing home care for the remainder of her life.
She was an Aquarian that did truly love water; anything to do with water. She enjoyed swimming, body surfing, sailing and fishing. Because of this she took a break from her employment with the State of California and moved to Hawaii. While there she obtained a Barber License to support herself. Upon returning to California she resumed employment at Fairview and obtained a Hypnotherapy License which allowed her to supplement her income at home in the evenings and on the weekends. August was her favorite month especially when she became eligible to take a full four week annual "play in the sun" vacation.
When stuck indoors, reading true crime stories was a favorite pastime. If Ann Rule wrote it, she'd read it. There was often a cat in her lap or at her feet when she read. Throughout the years she had many. They included a Manx, Siamese, and several Russian Blues. When the tv was on it was usually to watch sports. She loved watching tennis matches androoted for her Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers when watching football.
Evonne is survived by two brothers, Chuck Campbell (Phyllis) of American Canyon, CA and Marcel Campbell (Nancy) of Vacaville, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, George Weldon Campbell and his wife, Grace.
No services will be held. Interment will be at Santa Ana Cemetery in Santa Ana, CA.
