In Memory... Julian Bradley Adams
October 22, 1926 - January 7, 2014
Julian was born in Nottingham England.
His father Carl was employed in the sugar manufacturing industry. When Julian was two years old, his father was recruited by the Holly Sugar Company to work in Sidney, Montana. Carl took his wife Christiana, Julian's brother, and three sisters to Sidney to raise the family.
Julian loved sports and played high school football and basketball at Sidney High School, and Carroll College in Helena, Montana before moving to Santa Monica.
Julian joined the Army in his late teens. He was stationed in the Philippines and Korea during the WW2's post-war occupation. His job there was to help set up a Coca-Cola bottling company for our military personnel. When his Army service was complete, he briefly spent time in Montana, and settled back in Southern California and attended Santa Monica City College, then UCLA, where he became a lifelong Bruin.
He and Bernice Sasso married in April, 1966. They lived in the So. California area and raised two sons, Charles and Richard. His career was as an Actuarial for Farmer's Insurance for 25 years. He also worked for Paula Insurance Company.
Upon retiring in 1988, Julian and Bernice moved and split time between Laguna Niguel and Palm Desert. In Palm Desert he loved playing golf, and in Laguna Niguel he enjoyed many activities at the local Sea Country Community and Sr. Center – Bingo and Bunco just to name a couple. They became members of the Laguna Niguel Senior Citizens Club, and Julian served on the Board of Directors as the Club Historian for many years. Julian enjoyed playing the guitar, watching sports, and rarely missed any of his son's games when they were in high school.
Sailing was one of his lifelong passions. In his young bachelor days Julian enjoyed sailing his 24' sailboat from Marina Del Rey, and in retirement Julian and Bernice sailed on more than 14 cruises!
He is survived by Bernice, their two sons – Charles and Richard, and three granddaughters – Ava, Julia and Ali.
He will receive a military burial with honors at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego. His smiling face and sweet nature will be remembered and missed.
