Kathryn Anne McGill, born August 23, 1948 in Rhode Island, passed peacefully on Thursday, November 3, 2022 in her assisted living residence. Kathryn was lovingly known as Kathy to her family as well as Grandma to her 5 grandkids. Born to Joseph and Esther McGill, she has five siblings including Susan McKee, Maryanne Cragin, Joseph McGill, Stephen McGill (passed) and Gail Cardoso (passed). Kathy moved to California in 1990 along with her husband at the time, Jeff Graass, and two children, Jennifer Gelman and John Graass.

She worked as a special education teacher in the Santa Ana School District for 21 years. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Gelman, Son-in-Law Dan, son John Graass and grandchildren, Madison, Ethan, Adam, Max and Gavin.

A graduate of Cumberland High School in Rhode Island, Kathy met her husband, Jeff Graass, at a local restaurant before moving around the country which included residences in New Jersey, New Orleans, Winnetka and Naperville, IL before landing in sunny southern California. Kathy greatly enjoyed the weather here, its activities and most of all the relationships that she built along the way.

Kathy retired in 2012 and enjoyed spending her free time with friends and family within Orange County. Her greatest pleasure included her children and most of all spending time with and talking about her grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday, November 11, 2022, 8:30 a.m. at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 9 Hillgate, Irvine, CA. Kathy will be laid to rest at Ascension Cemetery.
