IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kevin Christopher
Cox
March 4, 1988 – November 20, 2025
Kevin Christopher Cox, born March 4, 1988, in Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at his home in Laguna Niguel, California. He was lovingly known as "K" to his mom, "Kev" to his brothers, and Kevin to his dad. Born to Curtis and Elise Cox, he was the youngest of four brothers: Neil, Brian, and David.
A 2006 graduate of Jefferson City High School, in 2014, Kevin later studied Philosophy, Japanese, and Acting at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California, earning straight A's.
Kevin drove himself to California in 2006 and soon began working in the film and entertainment industry. His early credits included appearances in the ABC political thriller Scandal with Kerry Washington and the film Superbad alongside Michael Cera, Emma Stone, and Jonah Hill. In 2015 he joined Big Lots, Inc., where he worked until 2021. During his years there, he received numerous commendations from both the company and its customers and was even featured in a national commercial, where the company thanked him for being "The best of the best!"
He is survived by his parents, Elise and Curtis; his brothers Neil, Brian, and David; and his sister-in-law, Alexis.
As the baby of the family—seven and a half years younger than his next-oldest brother, David—Kevin embraced his role with humor, grace, and an unmistakably "old soul" spirit. He possessed a vivid imagination, a remarkable memory, and a loving heart. He delighted in laughing with his brothers, caring for his parents, and staying connected with his friends. Although he suffered from mental illness in his later years, his generous, compassionate nature was always evident to those who knew him.
Kevin cherished family trips to Carriacou, Grenada—his family's homeland—as well as vacations to many other places. He loved walking and biking the Katy Trail in Missouri. His heroes and inspirations were wonderfully varied: Carl Sagan, Barack Obama, Bob Marley, David Bowie, Basquiat, Mos Def, the Dalai Lama, and Adriana Lima (although not necessarily in that order).
He was passionate about producing and enjoying music, singing, movies, photography, anime, the ocean, geography, the Chinese Zodiac, animals, etymology, literature, travel, and time spent with family and friends. He was generous in countless ways, and the time we had with him in this life is more precious than words can express.
Kevin once wrote on his Facebook biography: "I'd like to visit the cities of Macau, Paris, Shanghai, and Tokyo, as well as the City State of Singapore." We have no doubt that Kevin is now enjoying a comforting bowl of ramen somewhere in Nishi-Shinjuku—rain falling softly outside, a haiku taking shape in his mind, offering a prayer of protection for his family, and is finally at peace.
