Laurie Jean Marx passed peacefully in her sleep on the morning of November, 18th, 2021 in her Costa Mesa home. Laurie was born August 27, 1957 to JEF and Nancy Davis (passed) in Wyandotte, Michigan. At 3 years old, Laurie and her family moved to California where she grew
up in Costa Mesa with her three brothers: Chuck, Mick and Jim. Laurie attended Estancia High School where she was part of the Drill Team. She then studied early childhood development at
Orange Coast College.
At 19 years of age, Laurie married the love of her life, Steve Marx, on July 4th, 1977. Steve and Laurie have three children: Angela, Jeffrey, and Sarah; seven grandchildren: Blake, Madison, Chloe, Christian, Miles, Sharna (passed), and Amaya; and one great-grandchild, Miller.
Laurie was a loving and devoted wife. The love Steve and Laurie shared was one to inspire us all. Not only was she his wife, but she was his best friend. They loved to spend time together. No matter where they were; the racetrack, camping, road-tripping or just hanging out with family,
they loved being together. Laurie adored her husband, Steve!
Laurie was a loving and devoted mother. She was always involved in and cared about what was happening in the lives of her children. From Playgroup to Indian Maidens, Boy Scouts to PTA, sewing costumes, planning weddings, and so much more. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer loving and encouraging advice and she was the model of how to love well!
Laurie loved being the 'Silly Grandma". She enjoyed 'causing mischief' and assured her grandkids that 'getting in trouble is necessary' sometimes - only the fun kind of trouble though; like playing 'kickball' with sugar packets at the dinner table.
Laurie had many hobbies and always enjoyed doing fun and silly things. Bubbles and confetti were on the table at every family gathering. Disneyland was one of her favorite places. She hated shoes and loved to be barefoot, so her feet weren't 'trapped' in shoes. She kept a beautiful red, white and 'blue' garden (because they were married on July 4th). She loved her dachshunds. She was obsessed with fabric and enjoyed sewing personalized gifts for so many loved ones.
Laurie supported Steve in his passion for racing where she could always be found ready to host friends at their motor home in the paddock, giving them a place to congregate and rest in the shade. She was an active member of the Car Club and worked diligently for 15 years to have accurate records for the Club Registry.
Laurie loved her family and friends well. Her love and silliness made everything special. Her family and friends will miss her dearly and will carry on her love of gardening, storytelling, sewing, fun traditions and having a good cup of tea.
