Obituary

Leslie Ann Domingue , born April 5, 1959 in Weirton, West Virginia, passed peacefully in her sleep on June 12th, 2025 at her home in Laguna Niguel, California. She was lovingly known by family and many close friends as ""Les", and on occasion "Lester" by her mom. Her parents, Noel and Gloria Cantin, preceded her in death as did her older and beloved sister, Michelle.

Leslie met the love of her life, Joe Domingue, at Beckman Instruments in 1983, where they were both hired as chemists in a newly established clinical instruments division to develop reagent systems, test and evaluate the hardware/software interface, and contribute to a comfortable and successful operator experience. Joe often joked openly that he "hired" Leslie (which he considered a humorous conversation starter while she glared back at him finding no humor whatsoever in the remark). In his defense, Joe insists (with no proof other than his dubious recollection) that he and another early-twenty's male colleague were tasked with the initial screening of resumes which somehow ended up recommending interviews for young female applicants by an overwhelming majority. When asked how long it took for them to start dating (secretly at first to minimize suspicion), both were in agreement that it was an instant mutual attraction that was cemented within the first few weeks of Leslie's arrival.

Although it took Joe a few years to propose, they were married on April 5th, 1986, which happened to be Leslie's 27th birthday.  Leslie and Joe were married 39 years, welcoming their first child, Evan, five years later and their second child, Stephanie, five years after Evan's birth. As a family raising two very athletic kids in Dana Point and Laguna Niguel, many lifelong friendships were forged via the participation of both kids in Little League baseball and soccer. Leslie and Joe were always amongst the first to volunteer their time and energy as team parents, snack shack workers, coaches, umpires/referees, board members, and in whatever capacity that was needed. During the (typically very brief) offseason breaks,  Leslie and Joe enjoyed many family trips to Hawaii and across the US, but always considered their favorite destination to be France where they were always welcomed with open arms by the Lacombe family, who arranged many wonderful trips via their home base in Paris across all parts of the country. Stephanie has often said she saw more of France and England before age 10 than many of her friends will ever experience!

A proud and accomplished professional, Leslie dedicated 40+ years to her work as a Clinical Chemist, Technical Marketing Professional, and Project Manager at Beckman totalling 30+ years interrupted only briefly via a 10-year stint as an Analytical Chemist at Baxter Healthcare. Throughout her career, Leslie was widely admired for her hard work, her tireless and highly competent contributions,  and perhaps most of all, for her commitment to bring out the best in her colleagues thru her unique leadership skills that were consistently praised and rewarded via numerous promotions and awards.

Beyond her career, Leslie lived a vibrant, full life. She found joy in cooking and entertaining, making every gathering feel like a celebration, treasured her time with her book club, valued her religious experience, her travels across the globe, her paintings, handcrafted jewelry, and even a few stained glass projects. No matter her endeavor, Leslie always found time to share her precious time and talents, her vibrant smile, and unending love with both family and friends, while always prioritizing support for her children, both in academics and the arts (including instrumental music) and youth sports where she recognized the value of a broad-based experience contributing to her children's overall maturation and eventual success.

She also treasured her daily walks along the shoreline, local parks, and within her neighborhood, always with one of her 3 beloved shelties in tow, which also afforded her the opportunity to build life-long friendships, particularly within her close-knit Crown Royale neighborhood in Laguna Niguel where she spent her last 28+ years treating many neighbors to her skills as a both a chef and baker.

Leslie had a rare gift for friendship—deep, genuine, and lasting. To know her was to feel seen, valued, and loved. She brought light and laughter into every room, and her generosity of spirit touched all who had the joy of being in her orbit.

She leaves behind her beloved husband Joe, son Evan, daughter Stephanie, her sheltie Skye, and an extended family of treasured friends and colleagues who will carry her memory with them always.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church in Aliso Viejo, California followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon at her home in Laguna Niguel to celebrate a life well-lived and treasured by many. In lieu of flowers, Leslie's family kindly requests you consider a donation in her honor to support the Leonard Cancer Institute in Mission Viejo .
