Obituary

Linda Sparks Seeburger passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2025, in Rancho Mission Viejo, California, just two days shy of her 87th birthday. She was surrounded by her beloved children in her final moments.

Born in Long Beach, California, on July 15, 1938, to Etta and Clarence Sparks, Linda led a life defined by love, resilience, service, and deep connection. As the daughter of a Navy serviceman, she grew up in unique and far-reaching places, including the Marshall Islands and London - experiences that sparked her curiosity and appreciation for the world.

She eventually settled in Virginia, and while living there, she met her future husband, John (Jack) Ernest Seeburger Jr., then a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy. Together, they spent more than two decades as a Marine Corps family, raising children and building community in California, Virginia, and Hawaii.

A dedicated and compassionate nurse, Linda spent 32 years in Labor & Delivery and the NICU at Mission Community Hospital, where she helped bring thousands of babies into the world. She retired at age 72, leaving behind a legacy of care, warmth, and calm strength.

For 34 years, Linda called San Clemente home—a place where she built not only a beautiful house, but also a vibrant life filled with friendship, family, and joyful gatherings. In 2023, she moved to Reata Glen in Rancho Mission Viejo.

Linda's greatest joys were her family and friends. She is survived by her children: Tammy Coleman (Bill), Christina Seeburger, and John Seeburger (Yolanda Gascon); her grandchildren: Alex Szigeti (Danielle), Christopher Szigeti (Haily), Jack Seeburger, Sean Coleman, Nicholas Szigeti, Isabella Seeburger, Matthew Coleman, and India Szigeti; and her sister-in-law, Jean Stevens. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack, and her brother, Jerry.

Creative, thoughtful, and full of grace, Linda enjoyed painting, sewing, interior design, gardening, traveling, and playing bridge. She was a devoted and proud mother and grandmother, a loyal friend to many, and someone who nurtured a large and loving social circle wherever she went.

She was an enthusiastic supporter of her grandchildren's K-12 bilingual education in San Clemente and San Jose. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda's honor to Las Palmas Elementary:

She will be interred with her beloved husband at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland—a fitting resting place for a devoted Navy and Marine Corps wife whose life was anchored in love, service, and family.
