Obituary

Our beloved Lorilee Marie Colletti (Goodall) passed away peacefully on May 23rd, 2024 at the age of 68 years old. She left this world where she entered it, in her birthplace of Laguna Beach, California.

Lorilee was born on March 4th, 1956 in Laguna Beach to her loving parents George and Jane Goodall. She was soon joined by her younger brother, and only sibling, Geordie Goodall.

At an early stage Lorilee met her very best friends and kept these friendships through life. She enjoyed her school aged years spending many family trips camping around Southern California, and specifically Bishop, California. She would rush up and down the streams with her fanny pack around her waist and pole in hand to catch the rainbow trout.  Throughout high school she enjoyed cheerleading, in fact her uniform hangs in her closet to this day; Go Artists! She left her college, UCLA early to join Air California as a flight attendant, where she would eventually retire, 35 years later with American Airlines. Lorilee loved to host and make experiences truly special for people.

In addition to working full-time, she and her husband Bruce, married 44 years,  raised three children, John (43), Lauren (39) and Stephen (37) to be independent and thoughtful adults.

Lorilee loved to travel and spent 3 decades visiting everywhere from Quadra Island, Canada, to countries across Europe including Greece, Italy and all around the Hawaiian Islands. She enjoyed taking sailing cruises with her mother once her beloved father passed away.  Her favorite of these – to catch the turn of the fall colors up and down the New England coastline.

Following her retirement Lorilee really dove deep into collecting orchid blooms, going out for a good bowl of clam chowder, and especially fine cooking. She taught herself to cook through her extensive cookbook collection, as well as watching cooking shows. Her favorite dishes to repeat were her Grammie's Mints- a Scottish favorite, Spaghetti Bolognese, and Baked Chicken with Confetti Rice – each richly prepared with her love and attention to every detail and ingredient.

Lorilee's friendships encompassed all aspects of life and each were special to her. Lorilee also loved her family very, very much. Eventually, after traveling so many miles and being on so many airplanes, her favorite place was to be surrounded by family in the comfort and beauty of her home. She loved it when any of her grandchildren would come to visit and would go out of her way to ensure every minute was maximized, making them feel special with the smallest of details. Her sons would come by to visit and catch the UCLA football game with her, or a golf tournament. And any given night she and her husband would make their rounds on the phone checking in on the kids, and sharing a meal together, or playing with their beautiful Bengal cats.

Lorilee loved to read, watch golf and beat her husband Bruce at backgammon. A traditionalist, never wanting to fully resort to technology, she appreciated reading the newspaper every day. She would review all the horoscopes for her children and if one stood out, they were sure to receive over the phone from her, or dropped into their voicemail. She would look at the weather in the different cities they reside in, or may be traveling to and always give us a "head's up" on what to expect. She was, in a way, always, always with them in spirit.

Lorilee was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of 2021. She fought through several rounds of radiation and chemotherapy with her devoted husband and family by her side.

Ultimately, this fight which would take her appetite and ability to eat those delicious foods she loved to cook away, she began to grow more and more at peace with joining her parents in heaven.

Her celebration of life will be held at her beautiful home on June 8th, 2024 where she will be surrounded by her family, immediate and extended and wealth of friendships from over 60 years.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Colletti and their three children John, Lauren and Stephen Colletti and their spouses as well as four grandchildren and her brother, Geordie Goodall.
