Lorraine Center Cabasino, born September 5, 1930, in Cincinnati, Ohio,passed peacefully in her sleep in Helendale, CA on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. Her parents were Nettie and John Center and she had a half-sister, Vickie Lynn.
Lorraine moved to the Los Angeles, CA area in 1952 with her daughter, Kathy Anne Moore, and where she gave birth to her son, Kim Arnold Moore. She was employed at McDonnell Douglas for several years until 1959 when she gave birth to her second son, Louis Bruce Ritorto, who was given the nickname Boot as a baby and is still called Boot to this day by the entire family.
In 1972, she moved to El Toro, CA with the love of her life, Lawrence Cabasino, who she married in 1969.They had a a true and deep love for each other and was an inspiration to everyone that knew them.They opened a truly charming card and gift shop in Lake Forest that they owned for several years.In the late 1970's, she was employed as a cosmetics representative for Bullocks Department Store And was promoted to district representative extending from north Orange County to San Diego.This was by far her favorite occupation and she drove proudly with her COSMETIX personalized license plate.
Lorraine was a loving and involved Nona to her grandchildren, David, Jessica, Ashley, Nick, Joshua and Jason.She enjoyed going to their soccer, basketball and baseball games and would cheer with enthusiasm.She was an outstanding cook and her family and holiday dinners created many wonderful memories.Anytime her children would visit she would cook their favorite dishes and it was just one of the many ways she showed how much she loved them. She also loved to crochet and created many beautiful pieces that she gave to family and friends.
One of the first things you would notice about Lorraine was her beauty and elegance.She loved her family with a fierceness and deep sense of loyalty.Her generosity with family and friends was legendary and always admired. Christmas was her favorite holiday and her tree was exquisite.It became a family joke that only she could place the ornaments on the tree.She loved classical music, opera, ballet, museums, and loved to share this love with her family.She was constantly searching for new things to learn and her family was always amazed by the amount of knowledge she possessed.
Lorraine lost the love of her life and family patriarch Lawrence Sr in 2001, her stepson Victor in 2010 and her stepson Lawrence, Jr in 2013.She is survived by her daughter Kathy and son-in-law Jay, her son Kim and daughter-in-law Joyce, and her son Louis and daughter-in-law, Gracie.She is also survived by her grandchildren David, Jessica, Ashley, Nick, Joshua, Jason and her two great grandchildren, Liam and Landon.
Lorraine lived a life of honor, humor, quick wit, compassion, selflessness, andfriendship and will be missed terribly.
Internment for Lorraine will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 1:00 pm at El Toro Memorial Park.Internment will be recorded and available to view on the Facebook page of McCormick & Son Mortuaries.Gracie Ritorto will have live streaming of the service through her facebook page in real time.
