Louis (Lou) Riezman, born March 23. 1924, died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 93 on Tuesday September 5, 2017 in his home in Irvine, California. Born to Aaron and Esther Riezman, he had twin sisters Rose (now passed) and Mickey. Lou was born in New York City where he met and married his wife Natalie Shapiro on November 23, 1947. Lou and Natalie were married for 70 years and had two children Eric and Alan.Natalie, Eric, and Alan were all present the day Lou passed. Lou is also survived by daughter-in-law Susan, two grandchildren Sara and Joshua, and great granddaughter Maia born to Joshua and his wife Lauren two weeks before Lou passed.
Lou was born under very humble means. In fact when he had his first son Alan he had a total savings of only thirteen dollars.During World War II Lou served in the Army Air Force where he was a chief mechanic on B-29 bombers. He was stationed on the island of Tinian in the Pacific. After the war, through diligence and hard work, he became a very successful manufacturer's representative in the children's outerwear garment industry. He traveled extensively in the southeastern United States, presenting children's clothing lines to department stores and specialty shops. His unique success as a manufactures representative was also the subject of a feature article in the New York Times. When both of his sons moved to California he and Natalie followed them there where Lou opened up his own showroom and became even more successful in the garment industry.
Lou was an avid golfer and played golf until he was 80 years old. He and Natalie were fortunate to be able to travel extensively in Europe and Asia.Lou was an excellent conversationalist and was always the life of the party. Upon retiring, he served as the master of ceremonies for a number of political town hall meetings sponsored by the Association of American Retired Persons.
Services will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 1:30 PM at the Miramar National Cemetery.
