Luisa Leone Mesereau passed away October 25, 2020 at age 92.
Born in New York, her upbringing took place in Yonkers, Dobbs Ferry and Manhattan.She attended Marymount College. Her grandmother, Luisa Leone founded Mother Leone's Restaurant, famously known as Mama Leone's in New York City, with 20 seats in 1906.Her father, Eugene Leone, expanded the restaurant to 1500 seats and was a New York celebrity.The victim of medical malpractice in her 20's, Luisa investigated natural methods of physical and emotional healing, and helped open the first organic food store in New Jersey with a friend.Eventually, moving to Laguna Beach, California, she expanded her knowledge of natural healing methods and gathered a following of local of friends and confidants.Unconventional, determined, relentless, and courageous, Luisa carved her own life amidst the beauty and diversity of Laguna Beach.She embraced the teachings of Louise Hay, John Bradshaw, Ram Dass, The Storyteller and others.Luisa adopted the philosophies and teachings of multiple religions and arranged gatherings at her Laguna Beach residence so all could share.She attended conventions on natural healing and, in particular, unconventional methods for treating cancer.She would receive numerous phone calls from grateful friends and supporters.She did things her way.She was a survivor.
Surrounded by her cats, Italian sculptures and paintings, the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets of Laguna Beach, and a legion of friends, Luisa was the best mother ever.
Luisa is survived by her son (Thomas A. Mesereau, Jr.), daughter-in-law (Alice), two granddaughters (Katherine and Elaina), and great grandchildren.Her daughter Marigene predeceased her.
