Mabelean Jones, born on June 21 ^st , 1936, in Goodpine, Louisiana, passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday, October 3 ^rd , 2022 in her home in Compton, CA.  She was 86 years old.  She is survived by her only daughter Brenda L. Jones.  Mabelean was an elementary school teacher who taught for over 42 years.  Her career started in Mississippi and after teaching there for several years she moved to California.  While teaching and raising her daughter, Boo, as she always lovingly called her, she continued her education, earning a master's degree from Pepperdine University.  She developed a teaching method that received high recognition; in fact, Mabelean and her teaching method were featured in an article in the Los Angeles Times Newspaper.

After formally retiring from her profession as a full-time educator, she continued to teach as a substitute teacher for another 15 years. Teaching was her calling.  During her lifetime Mabelean Jones impacted and inspired many lives.  She lived her life with purpose, driven by a profound desire to educate and inspire the youth she taught.  Just as she made a lasting impact on her pupils, friends, and loved ones, she too will live on in our thoughts and in our hearts.  Today we celebrate your life, Mabelean. With a heavy heart we bid you farewell.  We love you and we will miss you.
