Obituary

Dear Family & Friends, On October the 2nd 2023, Manuel Duarte was called home to be, with his Lord & Savior after a lengthy illness. He was 64 years old. He was a beloved brother, uncle, husband, and father but to many people that knew him, Manuel was a kind and a wonderful friend. Manuel took pride in everything his entire life. Whether it was academic achievements or learning about the corporate world. He made his mark in life in the most influential way. During his high school years, he made the Honor Roll twice, while continuing to hold a 3.50 grade point average. After completing 2 years at Ventura College, he then decided to move away from home to pursue better opportunities that were granted to him. From 1981 to 1983, he enrolled and was accepted by the prestigious Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa Oklahoma, earning a degree in Business Management as well as his pilot's license. When he completed his studies in Oklahoma, he relocated to Northern California, and was hired by United Parcel Service. This would end up being a life-changing experience for him. And while he was accumulating time served with UPS, he quickly rose in ranking and was relocated to Southern California. Because of his experience as a Manager with UPS, opportunities continued to be afforded to him and as things turned out, he ended up becoming a Feeder's Manager with UPS, and was granted the opportunity to run his own team of approximately three hundred people. His career with UPS would conclude, with over 38 years of dedicated service, and his retirement from the corporation in 2020. Manuel is survived by his wife Priscilla, daughter Faith (Brian McAllen), sons Sam Duarte and Jonathan Hernandez (wife Brenda), his beloved mother Margaret Duarte, his beloved Aunt Lily Villa who was also a mother to Manuel during his many years in the Bay area and throughout his lifetime. Brothers, Rick Geyen (Wife Jill Geyen), Willie Jr (wife Kay Champion), Ross, sister Lilly Duarte, sister Liness Coronado, niece, Darlene Mattern, (husband Steve Mattern) great niece's Kassie, Ali, and Sophie Mattern, nephew Joshua Duarte, niece Abrianna Coronado, niece, Holly Bray (Husband Derek Bray), nephew, Blake Duarte, great niece Zoe Bray, great nephew Brody Bray, Earlene Shaw, and numerous relatives and friends.
