Marciana Miguel Alvarez born on October 13, 1928 passed away on March 7, 2015 at the age of 86. To everyone around her she was called Nanay, meaning mother. She peacefully passed in Mission hospital in Mission Viejo from implications to pneumonia. Marciana goes to join her husband, son, and daughter in paradise. Marciana lives through her 10 children, and grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great-great grandchildren spanning in the numbers of 101.
Marciana was born in the province of Lubao Pampanga in the Philippines. She was the fifth child of six children of Eduviges Gutierrez and Domingo Miguel. Mariciana completed elementary school, then tried to continue her education. At the age of 18, Marciana was married to Marcelo Alvarez in Lubao, Philippines. They were happily married for 20 years and had 10 children. This took Marciana to move to the city of Manila to start her own business. At the passing her husband, she became a widow. Marciana was a very strong and smart woman. She had to raise her 10 children by herself. As a single mother, she focused on her family and business. She was a hard worker and successful businesswoman. Her generosity caught the hearts of those who were in need. To those around her she had the role of being mother, father, grandmother, friend, and adviser.
In 1987, she migrated to California in United States. She took residence with her eldest daughter and became a US citizen in 1992. She enjoyed staying in the US. She was a full-time housemaid and later became a nanny. She raised most of her grandchildren and also took care of other people's children. Then, she resided in Lake Forest, California for 20 years. Marciana was a devoted catholic. Her love of cooking inspired her children to follow in her footsteps. She had a large celebration for her birthday, every year. She enjoyed viewing her photo albums of the past years.
Marciana has always wanted to live a long life; she wanted live until the age of 100 or longer. She loved the time with her family and friends. On March 7, 2015 she peacefully passed in the hospital. Her daughter said, " You can go and rest now, we will be fine here." After those words, she let out her last breath and she was soon gone.
Marciana will be returned to her home in the Philippines. Her final destination will be at the Laloma Cemetery.
