Margaret "Peggy" Biering
January 14, 1924 – June 1, 2021
San Luis Obispo, California – Margaret Biering passed away on June 1, 2021 in San Luis Obispo after suffering heart failure at the age of 97. Margaret, or "Peggy" as friends and family affectionately knew her, was born January 14, 1924 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Peggy was raised by her mother, Helen Little Montgomery, and spent much of her childhood growing dup in Chicago. She later married David Wilk, who lost his life serving our country in Europe during the Second World War.She married Raymond George Biering in Colorado and raised a family in La Mirada, California. Peggy and Ray later moved to Los Osos, California.
Peggy was loved by many, particularly her family and network of life-long friends. She raised three sons in La Mirada, California: David Biering, Raymond Alan Biering and Stephen Biering.Peggy dedicated much of her life to caring for her three sons, who remained close at heart through her whole life. She was also close with all of her grandchildren, particularly Tamara Biering, who was like a daughter to Peggy.Despite moving away, she stayed in close touch with many of her friends from La Mirada, Colorado, and elsewhere. She always knew the latest details of her friends' lives despite living far apart.
Peggy was quick to help others in need and instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of helping others, particularly family. She loved kids and spent much of her time with her grandkids. We always felt at home with her in Los Osos and spent many formative holidays visiting her. Thanksgiving was a particularly special holiday for Peggy as it brought together the entire family. Peggy was a fantastic conversationalist who was happy to chat for hours about books cats, family happenings and anything else on her mind. She laughed often and had many funny expressions like "time to wash your patties", "nevermind", "doop, doop doop", and "bless your heart".
Peggy is survived by her middle son, Raymond Biering (Ruth); her four grandchildren: Tamara Kahle (John), Brian Biering (Alexandra), Scott Biering (Brittany) and Tom Biering (Alexandrine); and six great grandchildren: Madison Kahle, Tyler Kahle, Jake Kahle, Charles Biering and Desmond Biering.
We will miss her warmth, kindness, generosity, sweet affable nature, and of course, her love for cats.
